Family Picnic 2014

Each year members of my late mother's family gather at Ross Park in St. Bernard, Ohio, for the annual picnic. My mother was one of 12, and three of her siblings are still living, Betty, Herman, and Pat. Herman was not able tomake the trek from California, but the other two were there.

My nephew David and his wife Kara have taken to hosting many of our family holiday gatherings. So several of us converged at their house. My younger niece and her husband came down from Columbus, and my sister and her husband and I came from other parts of Cincinnati.

It warm enough to wear shorts. So my grand nephew entertained himself outside with a throw and catch device. He and his sister played games on their phones. Us adult types stood around talking and munching. After supper it was time for the traditional Easter egg hunt. The switch to plastic eggs was made a few years back after the dog found and ate all the real eggs. Plastic eggs also offer the opportunity to hide various prizes inside, including $5 bills this year.
